Hospice

hospiceHospice care involves a team of doctors, nurses, home health aides, social workers, chaplains, counselors, and trained volunteers. They work together focusing on the person’s needs; physical, emotional, or spiritual.

The goal is to help keep the person as pain-free as possible, with loved ones as end of life nears. The hospice team develops a care plan that meets each person's individual needs for pain management and symptom control.

In many cases, non-medical caregivers are the primary care givers and become "like family" while working for the client. When they are the primary caregiver for the client, caregivers are quite involved in the process already and can aid the family as a liason between the client and the hospice team, relaying important facts on the clients change in condition and immediate needs. This allows the client to be comfortable and at ease, knowing their needs are being cared for and addressed on their behalf. Many caregivers have hospice experience, and all are trained to assist with chronic illnesses and conditions.
